2021 Mercedes-Benz E 350 sedan (car review)

2021 Mercedes-Benz E 350 Sedan

ESTABLISHING the debonair status, Mercedes-Benz delivers sophistication, elegance, comfort, power and fun in the 2021 E 350 sedan. Harnessing the character and charisma of the brand’s heritage, it uplifts the senses, immersing the driver in an interior extraordinary.

It also sends shivers down your spine when the pedal hits the metal, while still feeling like it’s gliding through the air and doing it in style. The 2021 Mercedes Benz E 350 sedan is one to watch. No, he’s asking to be watched.

When we first approached this car, we were incredibly pleased with the sheer beauty, the all-powerful presence and the eminence of the class. We spent a few minutes taking in the E 350, and its surprisingly subtle and unpretentious look, in it.

There is a hint of sportiness thanks to the AMG-Line exterior styling and the beautiful 20-inch AMG multi-spoke alloy wheels. The front and rear ends are to perfection, with a stunning checkered grille and the classic Mercedes-Benz icon at its center.

Firm, defined lines on the hood, hinting at a growl in what lies below. The rear is finished with smooth contours and a slightly raised lip on the boot. Mercedes-Benz also did an incredible job hiding the many cameras included in the E 350.

With the naked eye, no one would even notice one. Even the side cameras are cleverly integrated into the exterior mirrors, and you’ll only see them if you look from below. Majestic in its position, the E 350 certainly has room, measuring 1.8m wide, 4.9m long and 1.4m high.

Exquisite body colors to personalize the E 350 include non-metallic polar white, obsidian black metallic, nautical blue metallic, graphite gray metallic, mojave silver metallic, high-tech silver metallic and selenite gray metallic .

If the exterior makes your jaw drop, brace yourself for a bigger version by stepping inside the 2021 Mercedes-Benz E 350 sedan. If car cabs were hotels on wheels, then the interior of this elegant beast should be the executive suite.

It’s classy, sexy and spacious. It features some of the most comfortable leather seats on the market, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and upholstery, and open-pore black ash wood accents, elegantly accented throughout the cabin.

With the inclusion of the Vision Package, a luxurious panoramic sunroof brings light into the cabin for front and rear passengers. The set also includes a heads-up display and a 13-speaker Burmester surround speaker capable of a whopping 590w output.

Frankly, the acoustics of this audio system can outperform your home theater system, and thanks to the sturdy cabin insulation, it keeps the highs and lows at peak performance. It’s a symphony to the ear, making the Vision ensemble a must-have.

The cabin is also lined with beautiful LED mood lighting, to set the mood for your cruise. There are 64 colors, and it really makes a difference, especially at night when the colors really stand out.

We played with the colors and found ocean blue to be best for a leisurely cruise and fiery red for lively walks. The center console also houses your phone for wireless charging or via a USB-C port.

The phone compartment also closes seamlessly once your phone is put away to keep your cabin tidy. There are also a few USB-C ports on the rear for rear passengers.

The driver has a unique intelligent driver’s seat adjustment system, where you can enter your height into the MBUX multimedia system, and he will adjust the seat to the correct height, length and posture. It was perfect for bringing our seat to the exact position.

If that doesn’t suit you, you can electronically adjust the seat, with the controls conveniently located on the door panel. Speaking of the MBUX system, there’s a seamless line of sight through the 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and 10.25-inch digital display.

The only downside to this screen we found was the fact that Apple CarPlay only used about two-thirds of the space, and it would have looked wonderful to exploit the full width of the screen.

The MBUX is capable of so many things, from your favorite radio stations to wired Apple CarPlay / Android Auto connectivity and navigation, comfort, safety and service settings.

You also don’t need to place your hand on the giant screen all the time, as there is a touchpad located on the center console, so you can rest your arm. While we are talking about technology, Mercedes-Benz has included a range of advanced technologies in the E 350.

In addition to what has already been mentioned, a highlight is the 360-degree camera, which is incredibly useful for changing lanes and parking. Thanks to augmented reality, you can see a bird’s eye view of the vehicle and its surroundings.

It even understands the distance to the sidewalk and to nearby cars. The vision of the camera is crystal clear. There is also a self-parking feature which we tested in an empty parking lot. Although it works, we were reluctant to put the parking lot back on the computer on an ongoing basis.

There are some things that need to stay in the driver’s hands, and parking is one of them. From a safety standpoint, nine airbags, ABS, ASR, ESP and adaptive braking are notable inclusions.

For children in the rear, there are three Top Tether child seat anchorages neatly stowed behind the head restraints, and the three ISOFIX anchor points at the base of the rear seats. It’s no surprise that the Mercedes-Benz E 350 has a 5-star ANCAP safety rating.

The driving experience in the 2021 Mercedes-Benz E 350 sedan is divine and a car enthusiast’s dream. Considering the size of the vehicle, you will be surprised at how easily the car handles windy roads; like a hot knife in butter.

The highlight for us though is the ‘air body control’ air suspension system, which makes it feel like even on the roughest roads you are sliding through the air. On top of that, it automatically regulates the height, so that it always maintains self-leveling and ground clearance.

You can also lower or raise the car up to 20mm manually, which gave us some reassurance as we approached a steeper than average aisle lip. The E 350 exceeds expectations under acceleration and will put a smile on your face as well.

It is powered by a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder petrol engine, coupled with Mercedes-Benz EQ-Boost technology. It can generate up to 220 kW of power and 400 Nm of torque, coupled to a 9G-TRONIC transmission, delivered by the rear wheels.

EQ-Boost makes a huge difference in the car’s launch potential and delivers almost instant response when you put your foot down, allowing you to hit 100 km / h in 5.9 seconds.

On the other hand, the fuel consumption for combined urban / extra-urban use is 7.7 liters / 100 km, which is pretty good. The Mercedes-Benz E 350 can be sporty and exciting, yet calm and efficient, depending on the driver’s choice.

We have to say that Mercedes-Benz presented an amazing car in the E 350 sedan, ticking the boxes for those who want it all. We didn’t really want to give it back and would happily spend endless hours there. That says a lot.

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz E 350 sedan hits the road for $ 145,539 by car (more if you add optional extras) and comes with a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty.
